WICHITA, Kan.—The University of Evansville volleyball team pushed No. 11 Wichita State to four sets but the Shockers battled back for a fourth set win to defeat the Aces 3-1 at Charles Koch Arena on Saturday night.
With the loss, the Aces fell to 13-14 overall and 7-7 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Shockers extended their win streak to 26 games to stay unbeaten. The final set scores were 25-16, 25-10, 23-25, and 25-15.
Junior Ginta Gabruseva led the Aces offense hitting .240 with 10 kills and five block assists. Sally Kulupka and Brooke Maher each posted five kills while Maher also tallied eight digs. Ellen Sawin had three kills and just missed a double-double with 19 assists and nine digs. Julie Sylvester had a solid defensive performance in the match with 28 digs.
The Aces will return home to host Drake and Creighton next weekend in the final homestand of the season.
