Day One Results

CARBONDALE, Ill.--The Aces wrapped up action at the 2008 State Farm/Missouri Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday evening. 

Host Southern Illinois leads the competition with 222.5 points. Missouri State is in second with 206 points, Illinois State is in third with 161.5 points, Northern Iowa is in fourth place with 107 points and Evansville is in fifth place with 96 points.

Christina Schmidgall had the highest finish on the day. The freshman took fourth place in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.96. Also placing in the 500 free were Lisa Murphy placing 14th with a time of 5:18.05, Nicole Uhrin placing 16th with a time of 5:20.85.

Diane Threlkeld finished 14th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.70 and Kaitlyn Sluka placed 15th with a time of 2:14.90.

In the 50 free, Kristyn Benter finished seventh with a time with a time of 24.80 and Anna Luecke finished 13th with a time of 25.11.

The MVC Championships will resume tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the SIU Student Recreation Center.
