CARBONDALE, Ill.--Missouri State was able to hold on for the Missouri Valley Conference title Saturday at the final day of the 2008 State Farm/Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Carbondale, Ill.

The Bears won the event with 942 points, Southern Illinois placed second with 774.5 points, Illinois State finished third with 715.5 points, Northern Iowa placed fourth with 346 points and Evansville finished in fifth place with 335 points. 

Kaitlyn Sluka was the highest finisher for the Aces Saturday. She came in third in the 200 back with a time of 2:05.99. Diane Threlkeld finished 14^th in the same event with a time of 2:12.63.

Christina Schmidgall had another top ten finish with a sixth place finish in the 1650 free (17:49.74). Lisa Murphy also placed in the 1650 free with a 10^th place finish with a time of 18:10.00.

In the 100 free, Kristyn Benter finished eighth with a time of 54.68, and Anna Luecke finished 11^th with a time of 54.61.

Taryn Brelage finished 12^th with a time of 2:33.55, and Stephanie Kauffman finished 15^th with a time of 2:48.67 in the 200 breast.

Nicole Uhrin picked up a sixth place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:10.50. Ady Sekely finished 11^th with a time of 2:14.30 in the same event.
