AVON, Ind.—The University of Evansville men’s golf team took first place at the Butler Spring Invitational on Tuesday at Prestwick Golf Course. Senior Kyle Reddington won the event that consisted of ten teams with a field of 56 golfers.
“Both teams competed exceptionally well today despite the cold temperatures,” said head coach Jim Hamilton. “These guys hung in there and picked up a well deserved win.”
The Aces combined for a first round total of 299 on Monday and shot a 310 in their second round to win the event, three strokes ahead of Cleveland State and the University of Indianapolis.
Reddington carded a first-round score of 71 and shot a 74 in his second round to take the event with a two-round score of 145.
“Kyle has worked very hard in his career at Evansville,” said Hamilton. “He deserved this win.”
Christian Poling finished in the top ten with a third place finish with a two-round total of 148. Matt Hunsaker finished in the top 20, carding rounds of 76 and 81 to finish 15th.
The Aces will return to action at the Hoosier Invitational on Saturday at Indiana University Golf Course in Bloomington, Indiana.
