AVON, Ind.—The University of Evansville women’s golf team continued their success this season with a second place finish at the Butler Spring Invitational at Prestwick Golf Course on Tuesday.
Despite the cold temperatures, the Aces carded a lower second round of 324 than their first day total of 329. The Aces finished second behind Ball State.
“Our goal today was to make up ground on Ball State,” said head coach Jim Hamilton. “We did that, and we are moving in the right direction to carry us through the Missouri Valley Championships.”
Crissy Higgins was one of two golfers to break 80 in the second round. Higgins carded a second-round total of 76 to finish fifth with a two-round total of 161. Helen Cuffe shot rounds of 78 and 83 to tie Higgins for fifth of the field of 57 golfers. Maggie Wood finished in the top 20 with a two-round total of 172 to finish 19th. Katie Shoener finished 28th with a combined total of 175. Individually, Danielle Wolter picked up a 15th place finish with rounds of 83 and 84.
The Aces will return to action April 3-5 at the Eastern Kentucky Spring Invitational at Arlington Golf Course in Richmond, Kentucky.
