FT. PIERCE, Fla.—University of Evansville junior Vandi Gooch carded a score of 74 on Tuesday to lead the UE women's golf team into second place after the first day of competition at the 2008 Treasure Coast Classic at Indian Hills Golf Course in Ft. Pierce, Florida.
Gooch posted the lowest round by a Purple Ace on Tuesday with a first-round 74. Freshman Maggie Wood (77) and seniors Helen Cuffe (78) and Crissy Higgins (78) also cracked 80 for the Purple Aces to lead UE to a first-round team total of 307. Florida Atlantic currently leads the competition with a score of 289, while FAU’s Praewnapa Phol-Uayporn posted the lowest individual round of the day with a first-round 66.
The 2008 Treasure Coast Classic will continue tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. with 18 holes of golf.
