Five University of Evansville student-athletes have earned the Missouri Valley Conference's highest academic honor. Seniors Angela Bleecher (soccer), Franny Enzler (cross country), Andrea Hoy (cross country), Corey Southers (soccer) and Sara Wilhoite (tennis) were honored today with the Missouri Valley Conference Presidents Council Academic Excellence Award. Requirements include a 3.8 cumulative grade point average, a minimum two years' participation in varsity athletics, and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation. Another 39 UE student-athletes earned the Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award, which requires a 3.5 GPA for each of the previous two semesters. In addition, 134 student-athletes from UE earned a place on the MVC Honor Roll, which requires a 3.2 GPA. "Our students continue to achieve at a high level academically while balancing a very demanding schedule as a Division I athlete," said Director of Athletics John Stanley. "They deserve the bulk of the credit, but so does our coaching staff for recruiting this level of student-athlete."
