Aces Come Up Winless At IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The University of Evansville volleyball team fell short of their hopes for the weekend as they finished winless at the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational with two losses to Tulsa and Jacksonville State Sunday.
 
Game 1
Three Aces hit over .300 against Tulsa, but the Aces could not hold on for the win as the Golden Hurricane pulled out the 3-2 win (27-25, 22-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-9).
 
Kerry Sylvester led the team hitting .360 with 11 kills and three block assists. Sally Kulupka posted a team-high 19 kills while tallying a .304 attack percentage. Three other Aces posted double digit kills including Emily Wandersee with 12, Brooke Maher with 12, and Ginta Gabruseva with 10. Katie Kincaid had 30 assists and hit .333 overall.
 
Game 2
Jacksonville State was too much for the Aces as they took the match 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 28-26). The Gamecocks out hit the Aces .240 to .204 in the three sets.
 
Sylvester paced the Aces hitting .412 with 10 kills and was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts during the weekend. Wandersee hit .444 in the match with nine kills and two block assists. Kincaid posted 20 assists and picked up seven digs for the Aces.
 
The Aces will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. for a 6:30 p.m. match with Belmont.
