NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The University of Evansville volleyball team was unable to pick up its first win with a 3-0 loss to the Belmont Bruins on Tuesday night at the Curb Event Center.
"This is an unfortunate pattern we are getting ourselves into," said head coach Mike Swan. "We are getting behind in games and then are stuck trying to play catch up. We will try and change that at Chicago this weekend."
The Bruins out hit the Aces in each set and overall hit .248 compared to the Aces .095 as the Bruins won the match in three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-18, and 25-20.
Kerry Sylvester paced Evansville’s attack hitting .308 with five kills and three block assists. Sally Kulupka and Brooke Maher posted six kills each and Emily Wandersee contributed five kills in the loss. Katie Kincaid tallied 16 assists and nine digs and Julie Sylvester had 10 digs to lead the Aces’ defense.
The Aces (0-4) will travel to Chicago, Ill. this weekend for the Loyola Invitational. The Aces will meet Sam Houston State in the opening game at 10 a.m. on Friday.
