EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Evansville volleyball team rebounded from Friday night’s tough loss to dominate the Indiana State Sycamores in a Missouri Valley match at Carson Center on Saturday night.
“We are very happy to get our first conference win,” said head coach Mike Swan. “Our blocking was key in the game. We really dominated them in the second set and took them out of their game. Hopefully, this will give us some confidence as we go into a big game with Southern Illinois next week.”
Viera Rajcan came in late in the second set and posted three kills to lead the Aces along with Kulupka, who also had three. The Aces as a team hit .385 in the second set and only committed two errors in 26 attempts in the 25-12 victory.
Brooke Maher paced the Aces in the final set with four kills as the Aces took a 25-19 win to take the match.
Kerry Sylvester and Nixon were each credited with a solo block in the set.
Wandersee paced the Aces in the game with eight kills while Kulupka and Maher had seven each.
Kerry Sylvester hit a match-high .462 and had six kills and four block assists.
Rachel Robinson had a match-high five block assists, and Julie Sylvester led the defense with 14 digs.
The Aces (7-8, 1-1) will play their final game of a four-game homestand on Friday against Southern Illinois. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at Carson Center.
