The University of Evansville softball team had a busy weekend winning two games on Saturday at Cooper Stadium for Alumni Weekend and then participating in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event on Sunday.
The Aces improved to 5-1 with two wins over the visiting Louisville Cardinals with several UE softball alumni on hand for the weekend.
Kylie Wagner picked up the win in the opening game pitching the complete game. She gave up two earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts in the Aces’ 4-2 win.
Jamie Lindauer was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a triple and two singles.
Lissa Fehlman knocked in both runs for the Aces with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBI.
Kristen Shirk was 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run scored.
Jennifer McKee got the win in the second game as the Aces won 8-7 over the Cardinals. McKee pitched four innings of work and gave up three hits without and earned run.
Annie Vincelett pitched an inning of work and gave up three earned runs on two hits. Wagner finished out the game, going two innings and giving up a run on three hits.
Krista Price was 2-for-4 in the game with two hits, two runs scored, and a pair of stolen bases.
Amanda Ockomon had three doubles in the game with four RBI and two runs scored. Fehlman and Shirk each added RBI hits.
On Sunday, members of the UE softball team participated in the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event at Eastland Mall. The event attracted more than 18,000 participants.
