Aces At Loyola Invitational This Weekend

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Evansville volleyball team will participate in its second tournament of the season at the Loyola Invitational in Chicago this weekend. The five-team field features Loyola, Evansville, Bucknell, Tennessee-Martin, and Sam Houston State.

The Aces will look for their first win as they enter the tournament with a 0-4 slate for the season. The Aces had a tough weekend at IUPUI, dropping three matches and then lost a midweek match at Belmont.

Kerry Sylvester leads the Aces hitting .333 with 35 kills and 11 block assists. Sylvester turned in a strong performance at the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational and was named to the All-Tournament team for her efforts. Sylvester led all hitters against IUPUI, hitting .269 with nine kills and four block assists. She posted double-digit kills in the last two matches of the tournament, turning in 11 against Tulsa and 10 against Jacksonville State. Sylvester hit .360 against Tulsa with just two errors in 25 total attempts. She turned in her best percentage in the final game against Jacksonville State, hitting .412. On Tuesday, she hit .308 with five kills against Belmont.

The Aces will face off with Sam Houston State at 10 a.m. on Friday, followed by Bucknell at 5 p.m. Action on Saturday will see the Aces against Tennessee-Martin at 2:30 p.m. and against host Loyola at 7:30 p.m.
