Perfect might be a strong word, but it pretty well describes the University of Evansville and Butler University men's soccer teams. Evansville is 2-0 with two shutouts, over Detroit 2-0 and Central Arkansas 3-0. Butler is 3-0 with three shutouts, over James Madison 3-0, Northeastern 2-0 and IPFW 1-0.

The Purple Aces and Bulldogs meet Sunday afternoon at 3:00 at UE's Black Beauty Field. Evansville has beaten Butler in overtime each of the last two years, 2-1 in 2006 on Ian McAuley’s goal and 3-2 last season at Indianapolis on Mike Luttrull’s game-winner.

Just two matches into the season, Luttrull and freshman Tyler Crawford already have tallied five points for the Aces. Luttrull scored twice and made an assist in last week’s UK Invitational, while Crawford scored once and dished out three assists. Luttrull, Crawford and freshman defender Justin Sass made the all-tournament team. Senior Kipp Erskine is the Brine/MVC Defensive Player of the Week after helping produce two shutouts and scoring a goal in the win over Central Arkansas. And senior goalkeeper Alec Dufty notched two shoutouts last weekend, equaling his total in each of the last two years.

Butler is led by senior forward Frank Patano, who has scored four of his team's six goals, including the lone tally in Thursday's 1-0 win over IPFW.

The UE women's soccer team plays immediately after the men on Sunday, against Austin Peay.  Coach Krista McKendree's Aces improved to 2-1-1 Friday with a 1-0 win over Morehead State.  Austin Peay dropped to 1-3 with a 1-0 loss to Chattanooga.
