The University of Evansville volleyball team will open up its home schedule on Wednesday when Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville comes to Carson Center.
The Aces bring a 3-5 record into the match after going 3-1 over the weekend at the Loyola Invitational in Chicago. The Aces finished second to host Loyola with Kaisi Nixon and Kerry Sylvester being named to the All-Tournament team. Nixon finished with 28 kills and 68 assists, while Sylvester hit .259 with 31 kills and 12 total blocks.
The Aces opened the tournament with three straight wins over Sam Houston State, Bucknell, and Tennessee-Martin. The Aces made short work of Bucknell and Tennessee-Martin, winning in three sets. The Aces fell behind against Loyola in the championship game but came away pleased with their efforts.
The Cougars enter Wednesday night’s game with a 2-3 slate after finishing 1-2 at the Wyndham Suites Tournament hosted by Bradley. The team is led by Mallory Clements and Sydney Winslow who were named to the All-Tournament team. Clements finished with 27 kills, 106 assists and 43 digs for the weekend. Winslow had 41 kills, including a team-best 19 against Bradley.
The Aces (3-5) and Cougars (2-3) will face off at Carson Center at 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
