The University of Evansville men's basketball game scheduled for tonight at Drake has been postponed until Thursday at 4:00 because of an ice storm and snow that prevented the UE team from leaving Evansville until this evening. You can watch Thursday's game live on AcesTV, or listen on the Aces Basketball / Old National Bank Radio Network.

THE TOP 10 THINGS TO KNOW...UE AT DRAKE THURSDAY, JAN. 29

1. The Aces won the first meeting against Drake, 76-65, in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams on Dec. 28. Jason Holsinger hit three 3-pointers in less than four minutes to key a 12-0 run in the second half, turning a 41-41 tie into a 53-41 Evansville lead. UE eventually went up by 18 at 71-53 with two minutes to go. Holsinger and Shy Ely scored 16 points each, Nate Garner added 15 and Kavon Lacey scored 14.

2. The Aces swept their two games with Indiana State earlier this month. A win over Drake would give the Aces two sweeps for the first time since 2000-01, when they won a pair from Northern Iowa and Wichita State.

3. Evansville has a 16-14 advantage in the series against Drake, which dates back to Evansville’s first year as an MVC member in 1994-95. The win last month broke Drake’s four-game winning streak against the Aces.

4. Evansville’s best record in road games against an MVC team is its 7-7 record at Drake. The victories came in 1994-95, 1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2002-03, and 2005-06. In the 2006 game, Kyle Anslinger hit 9 of 10 3-pointers in UE’s 69-68 win. Current players Shy Ely and Jason Holsinger were in the Aces’ starting lineup that night.

5. Now at the halfway point of the 18-game MVC season, the Aces have five road games and four home games remaining. They still have two left with Bradley, none with Indiana State, and one against the other seven.

6. Shy Ely has been the only Evansville player to score in double figures in three of the Aces’ nine MVC games, including each of the last two. He scored 26 of the team’s 57 points last Tuesday against Creighton, and 17 of the 50 in Sunday’s loss to Wichita State.

7. Jason Holsinger is struggling with his shooting, but not his passing. While he was only 4-for-21 from the field in the two games last week, he made 14 assists and only four turnovers. Holsinger’s 456 career assists are the third most at UE since records were first kept in 1973-74.

8. Pieter van Tongeren’s 26 minutes of playing time Sunday at Wichita State were the most he has logged in an MVC game this season. His defense was a big reason why the Shockers scored only 51 points. van Tongeren has blocked three shots in his last four games. Prior to that, he had only five blocks in the first 45 games of his career.

9. Following the Drake game Thursday, the Aces return home Saturday night to play Southern Illinois. It will be Coaches Vs. Cancer Night, with both coaching staffs donning tennis shoes to promote the fight against cancer.

10. UE players in the MVC’s top five this week: Shy Ely (#1 in scoring 17.3, #1 in minutes played 34.6, #5 in rebounding 6.5); Kaylon Williams (#3 in assists 4.4, #5 in steals 1.6, #5 in assist-to-turnover ratio 1.6); Nate Garner (#5 in offensive rebounds 2.3).
