The University of Evansville women’s swimming and diving team had strong swims at the Illinois State Triangular on Friday, as the Aces faced off with host Illinois State and Iowa State.
“I thought that we fought very hard,” said Evansville head coach
Rickey Perkins. “Our team score doesn’t represent us at all because we had fantastic swims. We were very resilient and kept fighting throughout the entire meet.”
The Aces had two first place finishes at the ISU Triangular. Sophomore
Hannah Quast won the 200 free while also placing third in the 100 free. Freshman
Michea Reinitz placed first in the 50 free and second in the 200 fly. Quast and Reinitz also helped the 200 free relay finish third along with
Annie Shackelford and
Anna Luecke.
Junior
Christina Schmidgall took second in the 1000 free and fourth in the 500 free for UE. In the 200 IM, freshman
Jill Enge finished second followed by sophomore
Kassandra Beseau in third. Enge also placed fourth in the 200 back.
On the diving boards, freshman
Sadie Wells placed fourth in the 3 meter and fifth in the 1-meter dive while junior
Jennifer Childers finished fifth in the 3-meter board.
The women will join the men Saturday at Eastern Illinois for a dual meet with the Panthers at 1:00 p.m.
