University of Evansville Director of Athletics John Stanley presented senior volleyball player Katie Kincaid the Margaret Dettwiler Scholarship at halftime of the UE men’s basketball game on Wednesday night.

The Margaret Dettwiler Scholarship was created by her many friends following Meg’s death from cancer in 1999.  The criteria for the Dettwiler Scholarship is that the recipient is a deserving female student-athlete nominated by the coaching staff and administration.

Kincaid was a four-year starting setter for the Aces andmade the transition to defensive specialist during her senior season.  She led the team in assists last season and finished her career eighth all-time in assists at UE with 1,915.  She was named to the 2008 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention Team.  Kincaid is in the physical therapy program and plans on getting her doctorate at UE. She has been active on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars.
