CARBONDALE, Ill.—The University of Evansville women’s swimming and diving team concluded the first day of competition at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships on Thursday in Carbondale, Ill.
“It was a great day for our first day,” said head Rickey Perkins. “We had some girls that had personal bests today and three girls in the finals.”
Sophomore
Christina Schmidgall broke her second record of the season with her fifth place performance in the 500 free. Schmidgall broke Kim Dodson’s record of 5:01.95 with a time of 4:59.05.
Freshmen Kasandra Beseau and
Hannah Quast were the other two swimmers in the top ten. Beseau took seventh in the 200 IM with a time of 2:11.34, and Quast finished seventh in the 50 free with a time of 24.38.
The Aces will continue with the second day of competition on Friday at 11 a.m. with finals beginning at 6 p.m.
