CARBONDALE, Ill.—The University of Evansville women’s swimming and diving wrapped up day two of competition at the 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships at Southern Illinois on Friday night.
The Aces had five women, including four freshmen, with top-10 finishes during the day’s events. Sophomore Christina Schmidgall continued her success at the championships with a ninth place finish in the 200 free. Hannah Quast had the highest finish of the day with a fourth place finish in the 200 free. Alexandra Howard placed fifth in the 100 back while Kassandra Beseau had a sixth place finish in the 100 fly. Alexandra Spata wrapped up the top-10 finishes with a tenth place finish in the 400 IM.
The Aces’ two relay teams each finished fifth. The 200 medley relay team consisted of Diane Threlkeld, Beseau, Howard, and Anna Luecke. Murphy Barry, Schmidgall, Annie Shackelford, and Quast made up the 800 free relay team.
The Aces will finish with the final day of competition on Saturday with preliminaries starting at 11 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m.
