UE Takes Fifth At MVC Swimming And Diving Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill.—The 2009 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships came to a close on Saturday evening in Carbondale, Ill. Missouri State took the title with 944.5 points. Illinois State was second with 770, followed by Southern Illinois with 716, Northern Iowa with 361, and the University of Evansville with 325.5.

The Aces had their highest finishes of the championships in the last day’s events. Sophomore #Christina Schmidgall
# and freshman #Hannah Quast# both picked up third place finishes to lead the team. Schmidgall took third in the 1650 free with a time of 17:14.45 while Quast took third in the 100 free with a time of 51.80.

Junior
#Ady Sekely# had a top-10 finish with a ninth place finish in the 200 fly. #Kaitlyn Sluka# placed 11th in the 200 back, and #Bridget Niezer# was 14th in the 200 breast to round out the Aces’ highest finishers of the day.
 
The University of Evansville men will compete in the Sun Belt Conference Championships February 19-21 in Nashville, Tenn.
