EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The University of Evansville men’s swimming and diving team will put all its hard work to the test as they travel to Nashville, Tenn. for the 2009 Sun Belt Conference Championships that run from Thursday to Saturday.

The Aces will go into the championships behind the leadership of seniors Brian Gray and James Nash. Gray has been one of the Aces’ most consistent butterfly swimmers and picked up a win in the 100 fly over Western Kentucky earlier in the season. Nash has several individual wins this season and had one of the team’s highest finishes last season at the championships with a 18th place finish in the 100 back.

The freshmen class should make a difference, as they have been very successful this season. The six freshmen include Caleb Gorrell, Colin Gray, Bryan Hamann, Jacob Harrington, Daniel Jackson, and Brandon Long.

Josh Fletcher and Andy Balczo will compete in the diving events for the Aces. Fletcher won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events against Western Kentucky in January.

The SBC Championships are set to begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday with warm-ups and preliminaries.
