The University of Evansville softball team will kick off a five-game home stand with its home opener against Creighton this weekend. The three-game series will open up Missouri Valley Conference play. Saturday’s doubleheader will begin at noon and the final game will start on Sunday at noon.
The first 100 paid fans in attendance to Saturday's doubleheader will receive an Aces' softball mug and a coupon for a free coffee or hot chocolate from the McCutchan Stadium concession stand.
The Aces (4-9) traveled to the Under Armour Invitational hosted by South Florida over the weekend. The team finished the tournament with a 2-1 win over Lehigh.
Kelci Alsip,
Amanda Ockomon, and Jennifer Stahlhut led the team with six hits each.
Jennifer McKee took the win, pitching 19.2 innings over the weekend and giving up just four earned runs with 12 strikeouts.
The Bluejays enter the weekend at 8-7 after a 3-2 record at the Hillenbrand Invitational last weekend. Behind two-time MVC Pitcher of the Year Tara Oltman, the team shut out #13 Arizona at home for the first time since 2005. The Bluejays are led offensively by Renae Sinkler with a .400 batting average and a team-leading 17 RBI.
