DAYTON, OHIO-- The University of Evansville volleyball team bounced back from two losses in the Raider Challenge to defeat St. Peter’s 3-0 on Saturday in Dayton, Ohio.

Sophomore Kaisi Nixon earned all-tournament team honors for the Aces after she posted 25 kills, six block assists and four digs over the weekend.

“The weekend didn’t go as we expected,” said Evansville head coach Mike Swan. “We were heartbroken after the loss to Kent State that we let the game slip away, and I think it took a toll on us. We rebounded, though, and dominated the match with St. Peter’s. We just need to learn how to finish off opponents when we have the opportunity.”

Sophomore Brooke Maher had a team-high 12 kills versus St. Peter’s while junior Emily Wandersee collected 11 kills. Junior Julie Sylvester posted 25 digs, and senior Rachel Robinson tallied eight block assists.

UE started off the first set and held a lead through the entire outing. The Aces led as much as nine points at 22-13 and finished off the Peahens at 25-15.

The two teams traded points and kept the scoring close in the second contest. UE put together a five-point rally to go up 17-11. The Aces kept rolling to a 25-17 win.

Evansville continued to put the pieces together in the final set to take the team’s first sweep of an opponent this season. The Aces took the third set in a dominating fashion at 25-14 over St. Peter’s.

UE raced out to a 2-0 lead, but Kent State worked through three straight to take the match.
