CARBONDALE, Ill.-- The University of Evansville volleyball team (6-5, 0-1) was handed a 3-1 loss by the Southern Illinois Salukis (11-0, 1-0) Saturday morning in Carbondale (25-20, 20-25, 16-25, 18-25).

 

“Of course we are disappointed after we played well in game one and most of game two,” said Evansville head coach Mike Swan. “We just handed them game two after being up 18-15. We had some good production from our hitting. Trying to beat an undefeated team, you have to play error free and give them no easy points. We definitely have some stuff to work on this week to get back on the winning track.”

 

Senior Ginta Gabruseva posted 21 kills to hit .410 for the match. Junior Emily Wandersee had 10 kills for a .391 attack percentage. Sophomore Brooke Maher also collected 10 kills. Setter Ellen Sawin tabbed 41 assists in the loss.

 

The Aces return to the court Wednesday, September 18 at SIU-Edwardsville.
