ST. LOUIS--University of Evansville swimmer
Hannah Quast has been named this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week after starting the new year off with sound performances for the Purple Aces.
"I'm very happy and proud for Hannah," said Evansville head coach Rickey Perkins. "She has worked hard all season and deserves to be honored."
This marks the fourth time this season that an athlete from Evansville has been given a weekly honor, as Sadie Wells and Michea Reinitz have been named Diver and Swimmer of the Week, respectively, and Christina Schmidgall was selected Scholar-Athlete of the Week earlier in the season.
At the Winter College Invite in Dayton Beach, Florida, Quast posted a first place finish in the 200 free and second in the 100 free to lead the Aces to a win in the six-team contest. On Sunday at Saint Louis, the sophomore and the Aces recorded top times in every event that they competed in, as Quast took first in the 100 and 200 free and the 400 medley relay.
The Aqua Aces continue a busy January, as the team travels to Western Kentucky on Saturday, January 16 with the meet slated for 1:00 p.m.
