DES MOINES, Iowa -- Tyler Kincaid put the University of Evansville ahead with his first goal of the season, but Drake scored the only two goals of the second half Saturday night in the Bulldogs' 2-1 victory. It was the first Missouri Valley Conference match of the season for the two teams, and a re-match of last November's State Farm MVC Tournament championship match. UE is now 4-6-1. Drake is 5-5-1.
Kincaid became the 13th Evansville player to score a goal this season when he connected at 17:41 on a shot that skimmed the post before going in. Brandon Causey got the assist. UE took the 1-0 advantage into the break, but Drake needed less than two minutes of the second half to tie the match, thanks to a header from Evan Harrison at 46:34 following a long cross from teammate Nick Foster. The winner came at 75:03 when Foster scored for the first time in 2010 with a 35-yard blast that found the top left corner of the goal past Aces' goalkeeper Phil Boerger.
UE got off 12 shots, with five on goal, led by Kincaid's four total shots and two shots on goal. Drake took 17 shots and put eight on goal. Jordan Kadlec had four saves for the victorious Bulldogs and Boerger made six saves for Evansville.
The Aces have lost four consecutive one-goal matches, the last three against teams that reached at least the second round of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. They return home to McCutchan Stadium Wednesday to play SIU Edwardsville, one of two new men's soccer members in the MVC.
