The University of Evansville volleyball team fell to 16-12 with a 3-0 loss to Missouri State as the Aces played their last home match tonight. The Bears took the win by set scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 26-24.

Senior Emily Wandersee made her last match at Carson Center count, leading the team with a .333 attack percentage and 11 kills. Sophomore Hannah Wilson led the offense, tallying a team-high 13 of the Aces’ 45 total kills. Junior Kaisi Nixon led the blocking line with two total blocks and recorded the Aces’ lone solo block.

The Aces started set one with a 1-0 lead, but the Bears were able to tie it up at four-all and eventually take the lead. The Missouri State held onto the lead until a kill by Wilson put the Aces ahead 17-16. UE couldn’t keep the advantage as the Bears battled back and Missouri State ended set one by taking a 25-22 victory.

Evansville jumped out to a 9-5 lead to open the second set and held onto the offensive advantage until the Bears managed to tie the score at 18-all. The teams fought back and fourth for the points, but Missouri State pulled ahead with a 25-21 win.

Tied at 3-, 4-, 5-, 6-, 7-, and 8-all, the final game was a close match until UE broke through with a 19-15 lead. UE looked like they were going to take the game at 23-20, but the Bears would not lay down as they rallied back to tie the game at 24-all. Two Missouri State kills sealed the deal and the Bears clinched the victory with a 26-24 win.

The Aces will hit the road this weekend for their final pair of regular-season matches. UE will take on Creighton on Friday before traveling to Drake Saturday.
