University of Evansville soccer player Mike Luttrull is back on the Academic All-America Team, this time as a first team selection.

The senior forward from Avon, Indiana, chosen second team Academic All-America in 2009, was selected today as one of 11 first team players on the 2010 ESPN Academic All-America Men's Soccer Team.  The elite team is chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

“This is a very well-deserved honor for a young man who has distinguished himself both in the classroom and on the playing field,”  said Evansville Head Coach Mike Jacobs.  “We are proud of Mike, and he is worthy of these tremendous accolades.”

Luttrull is an Accounting major with a 3.78 grade point average.  He was a three-time all-Missouri Valley Conference player, including Honorable Mention All-MVC in 2010. Luttrull was Evansville's scoring leader this season with six goals and three assists for 15 points, and was Offensive MVP of the Aces Soccer Classic for the third consecutive year. He ranked fourth in the MVC in points and fifth in goals.  He also ranked number three in the league in 2010 among active players in career scoring with 26 goals and 10 assists for 62 points.  The 62 career points put Luttrull number 15 on the all-time scoring list at Evansville.  Luttrull has also been active in campus and area organizations, including the UE Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Kick For Nick, Kick For The Cure, and Special Ed Prom.  Luttrull is the first UE soccer player to earn Academic All-America honors in back to back years since Jason Pele in 2005 and 2006.  He is the first to be chosen for the Academic All-America first team since Pedro Delgado in 1999.

The 11-man first team included four players from Indiana schools--two from Butler and one each from Evansville and IUPUI. Also represented on the first team were players from Akron, South Carolina, Northern Illinois, Mount St. Mary's, Marist, Saint Francis (Pa.) and Denver.  Kofi Sarkodie of the University of Akron was chosen as the ESPN Academic All-America of the Year.
