Final Team Standings
CLEVELAND, Miss. - The University of Evansville men’s and women’s swimming and diving team took third and second place, respectively, at the Delta State Christmas Invitational this weekend in Cleveland, Miss. The women finished in second place behind Missouri State while the men claimed third place behind Missouri State and host Delta State.
"I'm happy with the way that we swam, it was a great weekend for us," said head coach Rickey Perkins. "Like I said before, we were using this meet as a dress rehearsal for our conference meets, and I think we performed very well and did a lot of good things.
"I'm happy with the way that we came together," Perkins continued . "We earned respect, and that's what we want."
Michea Reinitz took the Aces’ only first place finish for the day with a time of 2:09.03 in the 200-yard butterfly. Alex Howard posted a second place finish for the women in the 200-backstroke.
For the men, Alex Seward claimed third place in the 100-freestyle with a time of 47.06. The 400-freestyle relay team consisting of Jake Harrington, Will Spradley, Kyle Tiemann and Seward finished in second place with a time of 3:09.28, just split seconds behind Missouri State’s final time of 3:08.96.
The Aces will depart for a training trip in Florida on Jan. 1 before both squads return to travel to Oxford, Ohio for a dual meet with Miami of Ohio on Jan. 12.
