Aces Just Three Strokes Out Of First

JASPER, Ind. -- There's a logjam at the top following the first 36 holes of the 54-hole Cardinal Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at Sultan's Run Golf Course, and the University of Evansville is a big part of it.  The Purple Aces are fifth in the field of 15 teams, but only three strokes out of first place with a team score of 599.  Detroit Mercy, Eastern Kentucky and Bowling Green are tied for first at 596, and Marshall is fourth at 597.  The final 18 holes take place Sunday, beginning at 8:30.
 
Michael Sainz and Griffin Wood led the Aces through the first 36 holes Saturday with scores of 4-over-par 148, good for 11th place out of 84 players.  The 36-hole leader is Matt Schneider of Bowling Green, who shot a pair of 71s for 2-under-par 142.
