SPRING HILL, Tenn. -- Michael Sainz made a very good spring season even better Tuesday. The University of Evansville sophomore from Elgin, Illinois shot 1-over-par 71 today, and finished third in the 90-player Tennessee State Men's Golf Intercollegiate at King's Creek Golf Club with a 54-hole score of 2-under-par 208. The third place finish was the best of Sainz's career, but just barely. Two weeks ago, he came in fourth among 83 players at the Ball State Collegiate.
As a team, Evansville finished seventh in the 15-team tournament at 873. Murray State claimed the team title with a score of 856, and Neal McCarty of SIU Edwardsville won the individual title by shooting 64 today to come in at 6-under-par 204. Coach Jim Hamilton's Aces are off until competing in the State Farm MVC Championships April 26 and 27 at Hutchinson, Kansas.
