High school golf standouts Nick Capozzoli of Cincinnati, Ohio, Parker Hensley of San Antonio, Texas and Craig Niemeier of Evansville will continue their careers at the University of Evansville, Purple Aces' head coach Jim Hamilton announced today.

Capozzoli is a senior at Cincinnati Sycamore High School, where he is a two-time member of the All-Greater Miami Conference Team. He averaged 76.0 last fall and qualified for the district meet. Hensley is the number one player at Ronald Reagan High School, one of the top rated teams in Texas. He was an all-district golfer in 2009 and 2010, and all-region in 2010. Niemeier is averaging 36.7 in his senior year at Mater Dei High School after earning all-Southern Indiana Athletic Conference honors as a junior. He was Mater Dei's Kiwanis Scholar-Athlete Award winner in 2009.

"All three are really good people and good golfers," Hamilton said. "Nick is one of the top players in Cincinnati, and is coached by Sonny Rinala, who is one of the most respected instructors in the Midwest. Parker is a very solid player who comes from a strong golfing background, and Craig is someone who, as he gets stronger, could mature into a really fine Division I player for us. We already had a team with a lot of competition for playing spots, and the three new players will add to the competition."

Five of the six players who competed in at least 20 rounds for Evansville during the 2009-10 season return in the fall, led by team leaders Michael Sainz (74.70) and Griffin Wood (74.96). The Aces won the 15-team Ball State Cardinal Collegiate in March, and finished in the top half of six of their final seven tournaments in 2009-10.
