University of Evansville volleyball player Emily Wandersee was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
“Emily had an amazing week and just a phenomenal year so far,” said head coach Mike Swan. “She’s so quick and she’s hitting very smart this year which makes it hard for the other teams to keep up with her. As co-captain, everybody looks up to her and she’s playing with a lot of confidence right now, which carries over to the rest of the team.”
Wandersee was named all-tournament after leading the Aces to the UE Dunn Hospitality championship Saturday. In UE’s nine sets, the senior recorded a .529 attack percentage while tallying 45 kills. In Friday’s win over Western Carolina, Wandersee shattered her career-high attack percentage for a single match, posting a .727 average with 16 kills. Her .727 attack percentage tied Jessica Kiefer's 13-year-old school record for highest attack percentage in a match.
