The University of Evansville volleyball team (11-2) will travel to the Windy City to take on the University of Illinois-Chicago Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.

The Purple Aces are coming off of a 1-1 weekend to kick off Missouri Valley Conference play. Friday night’s match ended with a 3-2 Aces victory that marked the first loss of the season for Drake. The Aces came up short to end the weekend as the Creighton Bluejays walked away with a 3-0 win.

The Aces enter the match hitting .250 as a team with 586 kills on the season. UE is out-blocking its opponents at the net 97.5-60 as junior Kaisi Nixon leads the team with seven solo blocks.

Senior Emily Wandersee is setting the bar high as she leads the Aces’ offense. A force at the net, Wandersee has downed 162 kills on the season and put up a team-high 50 blocks. With 270 blocks in her four-year career, is just one block away from breaking into UE’s top ten career blocks.

Freshman Katie Klages continues to hold the Aces’ defense together in the back row. Klages has recorded double-digit digs in four of the last five matches. Klages led the Aces to a win over Drake on Friday by recording a season-high 25 digs. Leading UE’s defense with 156 digs on the season, 96 of her digs have been tallied since stepping in at libero after junior April Lubrecht suffered a concussion during the September 11th match against Loyola-Chicago.

The UIC Flames enter the match with a 6-5 record. A member of the Horizon League, UIC is coming off of a 3-0 conference loss against Cleveland State. Three Flames have posted triple-digit kills, the leader being sophomore outside hitter Kelsey Safranek with 122.
