The University of Evansville volleyball team started their weekend with a 3-0 sweep over McNeese State at the Troy Spiketacular, with a final score of 25-23, 25-19, 25-20.

“I thought we came out a little flat in the first game,” said head coach Mike Swan, “but I think we rebounded really well in the second and third set. We got some quality swings from every position, and we stepped up our blocking game. We were intimidating at the net.”

Junior Brooke Maher recorded her second double-double of the season, posting a team-high 15 kills and 10 digs. Junior Kaisi Nixon led the team with a .562 attack percentage and added 10 kills of her own. As a team, the Aces’ offense hit .293 on the day.

Defensively, juniors Ellen Sawin, April Lubrecht and Maher each tallied 10 digs.

“We’re glad to start off the weekend with another 3-0 win,” added Swan. “We’re hoping to carry it over for the rest of the tournament.”

With the win, the Aces move to 3-1 on the season while McNeese State drops to 0-4. The Aces look to continue their success as they take on Western Illinois and host Troy Sunday at 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
