Volleyball player Lauren Seyller has transferred from Ohio University to the University of Evansville, head coach Mike Swan announced today.

Seyller will have three years of athletic eligibility remaining. The outside hitter from Bloomington, Ill., is enrolled in spring semester classes at UE and is participating in team practice and training sessions.

“We watched Lauren during her high school and club careers and were impressed with what we saw,” said Swan. “When we heard that she was looking to transfer this fall, there was an immediate renewed interest.

“She’s really a great athlete, and her ball-handling skills will provide a lot of depth for us at the outside hitter position,” continued Swan. “Academically she’s exactly what we look for in a student-athlete. I expect her to be a key contributor to the team and program over the next three years.”

At Ohio University, Seyller played in seven matches as a freshman for the 22-13 Bobcats. Prior to her college career, Seyller was a four-time letterwinner at Bloomington High School, where she led the Purple Raiders to a 28-8 record her senior season. As team captain her junior and senior years, Seyller was a two-time Big Twelve Conference first-team selection and twice named to the Pantagraph all-area team. Seyller was awarded WJBC Player of the Week honors once in 2009 and twice in 2010.

As a member of the Illini Elite Volleyball Club, Seyller was named to the AAU all-tournament team in 2008 as well as the JVDA all-tournament team in 2009.

Salutatorian of her graduating high school class, Seyller was named as a scholar-athlete all four years in high school. She is majoring in actuarial science.
