The University of Evansville men’s and women’s diving team lost in a dual meet against conference rival Missouri State tonight at UE’s Wyttenbach Pool. The women lost by a score of 72-41 while the men were defeated by a score of 92-21.

"I'm proud of our effort," said head coach Rickey Perkins. "And I'm proud that MSU respected us enough to bring their A-game tonight. I think that speaks very highly of our improvement this season."

Christina Schmidgall notched two first place finishes for the women, winning the 200- and 500-freestyle. Michea Reinitz also nabbed a win, taking first place in the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:10.76. Diver Sadie Wells swept the diving events, posting top scores in the 1-meter and 3-meter. Jen Childers was a close second on the 3-meter board, scoring a season-best 261.45.

Diver Andy Balczo was the only Purple Ace to claim a win on the men’s side. Balczo won the 1-meter event with a score of 260.6 and was less than two points away from taking first place on the 3-meter board as well. Will Spradley posted second place finishes in the 50- and 100-free. UE’s men’s relay team also claimed second place in the 400-medley and 400-freestyle relays.

The Aces will return to Wyttenbach pool for the last time this season tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. as they take on the Saint Louis Billikens. Admission is free. The meet will be designated as Senior Day for the Aces’ seven seniors, Balczo, Childers, Zach Kanet, Chris Nash, Schmidgall, Annie Shackelford and Will Spradley.
