The University of Evansville men’s and women’s swimming and diving team pulled out a split over visiting Saint Louis in today’s dual meet. The women won by a final score of 137-106 while the men were defeated 141-101.

“We competed well today, and that’s what is important during this part of the season,” said head coach Rickey Perkins
. “As we’re getting ready for conference championships, it’s all about effort. Times are important, but meaningless.

“We’ve worked very hard up to this point and everybody is tired and sore,” added Perkins. “So these next few weeks we’re going to relax and rest and let our hard work pay off at the conference championships.”

Overall, the women tallied ten wins in the 26-event meet.
Hannah Quast posted first place finishes in the 50- and 100-freestyle. Jill Enge, Michea Reinitz and Alex Howard also notched top times. Diver Jenn Childers made the most of her last home meet, winning the 1-meter event and qualifying for the Zone C Diving Championships with her school record-breaking score of 292.58. The score beat the previous record of 260.4, set by current diver Sadie Wells last season. Wells also posted a Zone cut on the 1M, taking second place with a personal-best score of 278.55. Wells later won the 3-meter event with a score of 275.63.

Will Spradley, Chris Nash, Alex Seward and Andy Balczo all ended the day with wins. Balczo led the men as he swept both diving events. Spradley won the 50-free with a time of 21.96, just split seconds away from his season-best. Nash took first in the 100-back while Seward posted the top time in the 100-butterfly.

The Aces will be back in action on February 5 as they travel to Southern Illinois for their last dual meet of the regular-season.
