Evansville Women’s Golf Takes Ninth At APSU Invitational

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. –
Senior Alyssa Key led the Purple Aces with a 78 in Tuesday’s second round of the F&M Bank APSU Invitational as the University of Evansville women’s golf team finished in ninth place.
 
After shooting a 79 in Monday’s first round, Key improved by a stroke on the final day at The Links at Novadell.  She finished in a tie for 40th place with a 157.
 
Lauren Ellerman, who shot a 77 on Monday, recorded a 79 to finish a stroke ahead of Key with a 156, tied for 35th.  Sydney Skiles, Cathy Doyle and Dana Hayden each completed Tuesday with scores of 79.  Skiles tied for 49th place while Doyle and Hayden tied for 53rd place with a final total of 162.
 
Lourdes Lopez from Jacksonville State improved on her first round total by seven shots, shooting a 6-under 66 on Tuesday to take medalist honors.  Lopez carded a 139, just one shot ahead of Alexandra Lennartsson of Murray State.
 
Lennartsson’s effort led Murray State to the team championship.  The Racers finished the tournament with a 584, just ahead of Jacksonville State’s 588.  Evansville’s two-day total was a 635, seven strokes behind seventh-place Lipscomb.
 
The Aces will finish up the fall season next week, traveling to Kettering, Ohio to take part in the Dayton Invitational.  Set for Monday and Tuesday, the event will be held at NCR Country Club.
