EVANSVILLE, Ind.- The University of Evansville mean's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to Bowling Green, Ky., to compete in the Western Kentucky University Hilltopper Invitational this weekend.  The tournament field includes host Western Kentucky, University of the Cumberlands, Vanderbilt (women only) and University of Arkansas at Little Rock (women only). The three-day invitational kicks off at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The Aces last defeated Eastern Illinois on October 23.  For the women's team, senior Alex Howard, juniors Jill Enge and Cassy Cude and freshman Michelle Tipton took first in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:05.26. Tipton also placed first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard free.  Freshman Mackenzie Powell notched a first place finish in the 200- and 100-yard free.  Freshman Samantha Montgomery, senior Valerie Jones and Howard also ended the meet with first place finishes their individual events.

Ashton Bishop highlighted the meet for the men's team, taking first in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. Freshmen Matthew Newland and Garrett Johnson, junior Alex Seward, and senior Will Spradley all won individual events throughout the meet. The relay team of Spradley, Bishop, senior Jake Harrington and junior Kyle Tiemann notched first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:15.83.
