OMAHA, Neb. – In the University of Evansville men’s soccer team’s last match of the season, the Purple Aces suffered a 2-0 loss to No. 2 Creighton University Saturday night in Omaha, Neb. The Aces finish the 2011 season with a 5-11-1 overall record and 0-5-1 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bluejays clinched a share of the regular season title with Missouri State and improved their record to 16-2 overall and 5-1 in conference.
Creighton first struck in the 14
th minute of play on Bruno Castro’s blast from the top of the box following a defensive deflection.
Evansville held Creighton scoreless for the remainder of the half, but in the 67
th minute the Jays added an insurance goal by Dion Acoff from 10-yards out.
Facing the nation’s leading defense that logged 14 shutouts in 18 matches, Evansville was held to six shots total, as Creighton outshot UE 18-6 and 6-2 on goal. Freshman
