OMAHA, Neb. – In the University of Evansville men’s soccer team’s last match of the season, the Purple Aces suffered a 2-0 loss to No. 2 Creighton University Saturday night in Omaha, Neb. The Aces finish the 2011 season with a 5-11-1 overall record and 0-5-1 mark in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Bluejays clinched a share of the regular season title with Missouri State and improved their record to 16-2 overall and 5-1 in conference.

Creighton first struck in the 14^th minute of play on Bruno Castro’s blast from the top of the box following a defensive deflection.

Evansville held Creighton scoreless for the remainder of the half, but in the 67^th minute the Jays added an insurance goal by Dion Acoff from 10-yards out.

Facing the nation’s leading defense that logged 14 shutouts in 18 matches, Evansville was held to six shots total, as Creighton outshot UE 18-6 and 6-2 on goal. Freshman Dylan Terry led the Aces with two shots, one on goal, while Drew Schall, Tad Kreamalmeyer, and Jarrett Robbins each got off one shot.

Freshman Eric Teppen tallied four saves for UE, playing the full 90:00 minutes.
