CLEVELAND, Miss.- The University of Evansville’s women’s swimming and diving team finished the day in first place with 369 points while the men ended in second with 200 points after the first day of events at the Christmas Invitational, hosted by Delta State.
For the women’s team, senior
Alex Howard, juniors
Jill Enge and
Michea Reinitz, and freshman
Samantha Montgomery finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:36.77. Freshman
Michelle Tipton took first in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:56.40. Freshman
Caroline Lee placed first in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:10.52. In the 50-yard freestyle, Reinitz and Montgomery took second and third place with final times of 24.22 and 24.78, respectively. Howard, Reinitz, and Lee and Montgomery notched a first place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with a final time of 3:53.37.
For the women’s diving,
Sadie Wells took first with a total of 251.70 points.
For the men’s team, senior
Will Spradley, juniors
Alex Seward and
Kyle Tiemann, and freshman
Ashton Bishop took first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:24.35. Seward notched a first place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:54.39. Senior Jacob Harrington and
Colin Gray, Tiemann and Seward placed second in the 400-yard medley relay in 3:30.97.
For men’s diving, sophomore Mallet Reid placed first in the 1-meter diving with a score of 274.85.
The Aces will continue with day two tomorrow with preliminary heats beginning at 10:000 am. The final heats will begin at 6:00 p.m.
