Evansville, Ind. – After helping the Purple Aces to a first place finish at the Delta State Christmas Invitational last weekend, University of Evansville’s Michelle Tipton and Sadie Wells have been tabbed as this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office today.

Tipton, a freshman from O’Fallon, Mo., picks up her first Valley accolade after notching one of her best performances of the season, turning out seven first place finishes on the weekend. She was a perfect four-for-four in her individual meets, touching in with personal best times in all four of her freestyle races and breaking UE’s school records  in both the 500- and 1650-freestyle in the process. She also anchored two first place relay teams as well as swimming the third leg of the Aces’ first place 400-free relay team. With her final times this weekend, she now holds the top MVC time in the 100-, 200-, and 500-freestyle.

Wells, a junior diver from Monument, Colo., was named Diver of the Week for the second time this season after sweeping the diving events for the Aces this weekend. The 2011 Co-Diver of the Year posted a NCAA Zone qualifying score of 296.60 on the 3-meter, just 0.6 points away from her personal best and school record, to secure her third consecutive trip to the Zone C competition.
