The University of Evansville women's golf team was recently honored during a special ceremony at Roberts Stadium for its academic achievements, and senior Maggie Wood was recognized as recipient of the 2010-11 Margaret Dettwiler Scholarship.

Coach Jim Hamilton's squad was honored for being chosen as an All-Scholar Team from the National Golf Coaches Association.  The Aces compiled a team grade point average of 3.23 to qualify for the honor.

The Dettwiler Scholarship awarded to Wood is named in honor of longtime Aces' fan and Purple Aces Club President Margaret (Meg) Dettwiler, and is presented annually to a University of Evansville female athlete who possesses the characteristics of team spirit, hard work and leadership that made Meg Dettwiler an important figure in the Evansville community.  Wood is a senior from Boonville, Ind. and is the daughter of Craig and Mamie Wood.

The Aces begin the spring semester portion of the 2010-11 season Feb. 27 at the Birmingham Southern College/Ann Rhoades Shootout at Oxmoor Valley Golf Club in Birmingham, Ala.
