NORMAL, Ill. -- Rain and thunderstorms washed out Friday's scheduled 36 holes in the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Tournament.  The tournament is now scheduled to take place on Saturday only, with the teams playing 36 holes.  Play will not go into Sunday.

The 54-hole tournament includes all 10 MVC schools, and is taking place at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill. The team champion advances to the NCAA Regionals.  The University of Evansville goes into the tourney led by the 80.71 stroke average of senior Maggie Wood.  Junior Lauren Ellerman is next at 83.0.

Last year at Rolling Hills Country Club in Newburgh, where UE hosted the MVC Tournament, Illinois State ran off with a 14-stroke victory to become just the second team in league history to win three straight women's golf crowns (Tulsa, 1994-95-96 is the other).  Missouri State is the pick to win this year's event.

Bradley's Breanne Neufeld led the MVC in stroke average during the regular season, at 75.70 through 27 rounds, with one medalist honor.  Teammate Kelly Amundrud is next best in the league with a 75.78 average and two medalist trophies.  A balanced Missouri State club has three golfers in the top seven, including Catherine Dolan (75.69), Kelsey Welber (76.17) and Rikke Falsner (77.19).
