5/24/2011 10:19:36 AM

OMAHA, Neb. – Four University of Evansville baseball players have earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors, as announced at Monday night’s conference banquet in Omaha, Neb. Senior Cody Fick earned first-team honors, while junior second baseman Trentt Copeland was named second team. Senior outfielders Greg Wallace and Jared Baehl earned honorable mention recognition.
Fick, who has already been named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and is on the watch list for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award, will enter the tournament leading Evansville in a number of offensive categories, including batting average (.408), slugging percentage (.646), hits (84), RBI (71), doubles (20), home runs (9), and total bases (133). He tops the Missouri Valley Conference in runs batted in, and also ranks second nationally in RBI per game. Fick has also developed into Evansville’s ace with a 7-3 record, including complete game shutouts over Jacksonville and Bradley.
Copeland enters the week with a .365 batting average in Valley games and leads the team with a .453 on-base percentage. At second base, Copeland has recorded 162 assists and has had a hand in 34 double plays this season.
Centerfielder Wallace owns a .320 batting average on the season, and ranks second on the squad with 44 runs scored and 35 RBI.
Baehl owns a .301 batting average and has recorded 17 multi-hit and nine multi-RBI games this season. He currently ranks 13th in the country totaling six triples on the year.
The University of Evansville baseball team enters the 2011 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship with a 28-23 overall record, 7-13 mark in the MVC, and a No. 7 seed. Evansville will play the No. 2 seed, Wichita State, at 12:30 p.m. CT Tuesday at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in the first round of the MVC Tournament.
