Bradley Earns 3-0 Win Over Volleyball

PEORIA, Ill. –
Three Braves recorded double-digit kills as Bradley swept past the University of Evansville volleyball team, 3-0, on Saturday evening.
 
Amy Angelos led everyone with 13 kills while Courtney Keefe had 12 and Alise Tupuritis had 10 for Bradley (7-13, 1-8 MVC).  Lauren Seyller and Emma Roberson tallied eight kills apiece to lead the Aces (7-15, 2-7 MVC).
 
Bradley set the tone early on, scoring the first four points in the opening set.  A kill by Seyller marked UE’s first point, but the Braves kept adding to the lead as it reached double figures for the first time at 16-6 before BU took its largest lead at 20-9. 
 
Evansville scored four in a row to close within seven points, but Bradley held on for the 25-16 win.
 
Bradley took another early lead in game two, scoring nine of the first 12 points en route to a 9-3 advantage.  Three BU errors helped UE cut the deficit to 9-7 before three more by the Braves helped them extend their lead.
 
With the score at 19-15 in favor of Bradley, they would embark on a 6-1 stretch to finish up the game and take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
 
In the third frame, it was Evansville who had the early success, going up 7-3 on an Ashley Ring kill.  The advantage for UE would grow to as many as five points (13-8) as Hannah Wilson notched a pair of kills to help the Aces fight back.
 
Up 2-0 in the match and looking for its first conference win, Bradley fought back, knotting the score at 16-16 thanks to a 5-1 stretch.  With the score tied at 19-19, a 6-2 game-ending run gave the Braves the victory and the sweep.
 
Bradley had a decisive .227-.097 hitting advantage while recording 46 kills and limiting UE to 31.
 
Evansville will return home next weekend, facing Missouri State at 7 p.m. on Friday before playing host to Wichita State on Saturday at 5 p.m.  Both games will be at the Carson Center.
