Final Results
CLEVELAND – #Quinn Vilneff# shot a 4-over 76 as the University of Evansville men’s golf team took ninth place at the Cleveland State Invitational.
Vilneff finished the event with a 3-round total of 225 as he tied for 13
th place. He shot a 76 or lower in all three rounds, including a 74 in Monday’s second round.
Freshman
Alex Turner completed the tournament in a tie for 22
nd place on the strength of a 227 while fellow frosh
Rick VoyVodic carded a 240 to tie for 56
th.
Josiah Ashba notched a 241 while
Parker Hensley tallied a 250. Shooting as an individual,
Will Knights tied for 45
th place with a 236. Knights posted UE’s lowest round of the event, notching an even 72 in Monday’s second round.
Craig Niemeier also played as an individual, finishing with a 246.
After holding a lead of seven strokes after day one, Oakland held off a charge by Cleveland State to earn the win. Oakland notched an 871 while the Vikings tallied an 874. Appalachian State notched the low round of the day (281) to jump to third place with an 892.
Evansville finished with a 933, just ahead of Loyola Chicago, who registered a 935.
The Purple Aces have a quick turnaround as they are set to play at the John Dallio Memorial, which will be hosted by DePaul University. Set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, the event will be played at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club.
