EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Ashley Ring tallied 17 kills and Emma Roberson had 13 but it was the Shockers who came away with a 3-1 victory on Saturday evening at the Carson Center.

After falling in the opening two sets, Evansville (8-16, 3-8 MVC) rallied to take the third before Wichita State (16-5, 9-2 MVC) finished off the night with a 25-18 win to take the match.  The Shockers were led by a 13-kill performance by Emily Adney.

Wichita State opened up the game by scoring the first five points before a kill by Ashley Ring put the Aces on the board.  The lead for the Shockers reached as many as seven points at 10-3 before Evansville made its run.  The Aces crept back into the contest before finally tying it up at 16-16 on a WSU error.

The Shockers retook the lead, going back up by three at 19-16 before UE came all the way back to take its first lead of the game at 22-21 on a kill by Lauren Seyller.  The momentum was short-lived, however, as the Shockers clinched the first set by a 26-24 final.

Evansville scored the first two points of the second frame before the Shockers came back and the score would be tied at each point from two through six before the Shockers jumped up by a 10-6 margin.  Chelsey Feekin had a pair of kills in the run before UE made its way back to tie the game back up at 11-11.

Their strong play continued as UE jumped up by a 19-14 tally as several players registered kills.  WSU once again fought back, eventually tying the set up at 21-21 before retaking the lead on a Jordan Hinkle kill.  They capped off the 25-23 win on an ace.

In the third game, UE once again started off strong, starting off with another advantage, this one being 10-5 as Roberson notched a kill to finish off the stretch.  Wichita bounced back again.  With UE up 12-9, the Shockers notched six points in a row to open up a 15-12 advantage.

Wichita State held their edge until UE fought back to take a 21-20 lead.  Evansville kept up the momentum before coming back for a 25-22 win.

Down as many as nine points in the fourth set (15-6), UE made its way back within three points at 17-14.  Later, UE got within a pair at 18-16, but a late Shocker run made the difference as they wrapped up the game on a 7-2 stretch to take the win.

Next weekend, Evansville will take to the road to face Creighton on Friday evening before traveling to Drake on Saturday.  Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
