NORMAL, Ill. – #Emma Roberson# led the University of Evansville once again with 13 kills, but Illinois State finished UE’s season, taking a 3-1 win on Saturday evening.
With the loss, Evansville finishes its season with a 9-22 mark, along with a 4-14 MVC record.

Ashley Ring each finished the night with 10 kills. Illinois State was led by Brooklyn Hlafka and Emily Schneider, who had 13 kills apiece.
It was Evansville taking the early advantage in the match, winning by a 25-22 final in the first frame. Illinois State got the early jump as they scored the first three points before extending it to 7-3 on a double block.
The Aces fought back, eventually tying the set up at 11-all on a 6-0 stretch that saw Emma Roberson notch two kills. The Redbirds made their run, tying the game up at 21 before UE finished on a 4-1 stretch as Roberson capped it off with two more kills.
Illinois State reeled off the first three points in the second set and did not look back, winning by a score of 25-19. The Aces got within a pair at 10-8, but ISU retook its advantage, leading by six on two occasions before winning by that amount.
Their momentum carried over into the third game as ISU jumped out to an early 8-2 lead before UE rallied. Down 16-10, Evansville scored six in a row as Ashley Ring had three aces and two kills. Meaghan Holmes and Rachel TenHoor also had two block assists each in the stretch. The rally was too little, too late, though, as Illinois State, with the game tied at 19-19, scored six of the final seven to take a 25-20 win.
Another quick start got Illinois State on track in the fourth game as they went up 4-1 before stretching the lead to 12-6. Evansville was unable to muster the offense that it needed, falling 25-16.
